John Wayne is King

September 2010

Thanks to Roman May

Every so often a theater not far away has a John Wayne festival. It is an entire weekend of John Wayne films. He is the actor who has bridged the films of the past and has connected them to the present. One of the lesser rated movies called The Green Berets is a great flick. Lesser rated because it was pushing a political position.

I haven’t seen it for some time and it was on the schedule. I set my ADT alarm system , giving me peace of mind, and headed off to the theater. It was how I expected it to be, great. No matter how many times you see this film, it is like seeing it for the first time. It is a dated film and a propaganda tool for the Vietnam War, but this does not take away from the artistic merit of the film.

It is good for the mind to go back in time through film every once in a while. Modern films with their technology are not necessarily better. It is more difficult to portray a film’s mood through black and white than through color, although The Green Berets was a color film from its inception.

He loves Direct TV

August 2010

My son knows how to read at a very young age. One day when he’s browsing the internet by himself, he said, “mama, can we have the services from localtv-satellite.com?” I asked him where did he got that particular website and what was it all about. He said to me that it’s a LocalTV-Satellite in which he’s trying to check for some cable TV offers. I asked him again of what he wants from that site and he said that he liked Direct TV movies.

But I told him that we already have Direct TV and he’s even enjoying all of the services from it, mostly those cartoon movies that he likes the most. And guess what his answer was! He said, “oh well, okay, Direct TV is the best and I love it to the highest level!” After I told him about it, he got the TV remote and opened his favorite channel!

Hope he will

Every time my kid will whine, I feel like I will be deaf. Hope he will get over this whining stage as it’s not good for him. He sounds like abnormal or whatever! Anyway, hope he will grow smart and good person!

How the internet helped us prepare for our baby.

August 2010

This guest post from Lewis Beck

When my wife first found out she was pregnant we were overjoyed. We had tried for so long to have a baby and now we were going to have an addition to our family. We now had to prepare for the baby that was going to bring so much joy to our lives.

We decided to use the internet to buy thing things we needed for the baby. Our clear and satellite tv bundle connection is blazing fast so it was no trouble for us to go from site to site looking for the deals we need for our baby. We found some great deals online for everything we needed. From the crib to the baby bottles, everything needed was found online and it was found pretty cheap.

It’s amazing that you can shop for your baby in the your pajamas in the comfort of your own home. You don’t have to fight through crowds of people and deal with pushy sales people anymore. Even if we didn’t save money it was just a pleasure to be able to shop that way and avoid a lot of hassle. When we decide to have another child, we will prepare for their arrival online also.

Cold days will be here soon

August 2010

Summer will be over pretty soon which means cold days will follow. I hate cold days but I can’t do anything about it except to embrace and love it. Instead of complaining, I will just be thankful that I have the chance of experiencing this gift of nature.

Here’s A Great Place To Plan A Birthday Party Online

August 2010

Guest post from: Bruno Smith

www.mypunchbowl.com is a great place to plan a birthday party online and I just found it while I was doing a search using my new wireless internet provider. You can even get free online invitations when you order there. Along with that you can sign up using your facebook account and get started right away.

This is such a helpful site that lets you plan a birthday party around your personality or your child’s. That is so important. Making sure the party fits the individual makes all the difference in the world when it comes to making people happy.

I especially like that you can get ideas about the kind of party you would like to throw as well. New party ideas helps keep the fun exciting and new. Of course, if you are planning a party for that little one you may want to stick with the tried and true because the little guys like repetition. You can find all of that there on hughes net internet as well.

One of the things I like about planning parties online is that there is more variety and I don’t have to spend a lot of time going from one place to the other to get it just right. That means that I not only save time but I also save money on gas and a lot of tension as well.

Old time show

August 2010

The little kid is back watching HBO Family like what he used to do when he’s a tiny little baby. As what I can see on his face, he misses all the kiddy shows, like “little curious, I spy, crash box, happily ever after, etc”. Also, he likes more with the show because I rearranged the living room which means he is sitting beside me while I’m doing my computer work.

Picky eaters

August 2010

Guest post written by Ericka Owens

My kids are pretty picky eaters, so it took me a long to finally track down some food that they deemed worthy of eating in a school lunch. For them, eating cafeteria food is entirely out of the question, anyway.

One of the go-to meal ideas is this ham I get from a local deli to make ham and cheese sandwiches. I don’t know how my kids can tell, but somehow they can tell right away if the ham and cheese I put on their sandwiches are pre-packaged from a grocery store. (Maybe they should grow up to be food critics.)

So of course, I make a weekly trip to the deli, where I’m well-acquainted with the staff there. When I was there a few weeks ago, Mark, who usually helps me out, was trying to convince me to buy a different kind of ham. But I explained to him that I can’t pull a fast one on them, which is the reason for my weekly visits. Also I was having some trouble hearing him speak so I went home and looked up miracle ear. I have an appointment there later this week to see if I need hearing aids after all.

I bought a small amount of the new kind of ham and snuck it into my kids’ Saturday lunch sandwiches, which they noticed immediately.

Wondering

August 2010

Hmmm, they said they will be having maintenance last Sat and Sun. But then, why until now, my sites will experience some sort of invalid URL and can’t possibly be loaded? Hmmm, are they having upgrade everyday from that two days maintenance?

The kid loves these prescription sunglasses from Zenni

August 2010

Whenever we will visit the store for shopping we will see to it that we will bring the little kid so that he will be out once in a while. But when he will see some eyeglasses and sunglasses displays, he will always shout that he wants to buy one. Many times we told him that he doesn’t need one because he’s still small. But he will insists that he needs one because his mommy has prescription sunglasses in the car and in the house. And it will be a big fight because he will shout and raise his voice when he can’t get what he wants. So, the answer to that whining, shouting, and crying for the need of buying sunglasses and eyeglasses will be a promise that we need to visit the doctor first so that he can have his right prescription. After that thing, we need to let the kid know that we will buy his prescription eyeglasses and prescription sunglasses online particularly at Zenni Optical because all of the products of this optical store are so much affordable and with style. Aside from that he can choose the design that he wants and the color of the lens that he love. Whenever we will tell this thing to the little kid, he will just stop making noises, and he will agree with the idea of purchasing his prescription glasses over the internet.

The kid loves this one from Zenni Optical!
